Galatasaray Accuses Mourinho of Racist Remarks

Galatasaray has accused Fenerbahce's manager, José Mourinho, of making racist remarks following their 0-0 draw in the Istanbul derby on February 24, 2025. The controversy centers on Mourinho's post-match comments, where he described the Galatasaray bench as "jumping like monkeys" during the game. Additionally, he criticized Turkish referees, suggesting the match would have been a "disaster" if officiated by them, and praised Slovenian referee Slavko Vincic for his performance.

In response, Galatasaray issued a statement condemning Mourinho's remarks, stating that his discourse has escalated "beyond merely immoral comments into unequivocally inhumane rhetoric." The club announced its intention to initiate criminal proceedings

against Mourinho and to file official complaints with UEFA and FIFA.

This incident adds to previous tensions, as Mourinho has been fined and suspended earlier in the season for comments about Turkish match officials. As of now, neither Mourinho nor Fenerbahce have publicly responded to Galatasaray's accusations.
